I was feeling a bit sluggish this morning so I decided to whip through Starbucks and order a large coffee. What was I thinking? I sipped on that coffee most of the morning and by lunch I was twitching all over. I know better.
When we have stress and anxiety in our lives the effects of caffeine seem to intensify. Do you know what all that caffeine is doing to you?
Irregular heart beat
Quickened Pulse
Jittery
Promotes weight gain (increases Cortisol)
Decreases DHEA
Restricts oxygen flow to the brain
Tension
Indigestion
Increased Adrenaline
Inhibits absorption of Adenosine - which is a natural calming hormone
I am going to make sure that when I do have caffeine it will be in a smaller amount & not the largest size. How does caffeine affect you?
Wishing you peaceful thoughts today,
Amy

My husband is anxiety prone and tends toward that extra cup when he's not paying attention. He is on vacation this week and couldn't relax, stating "I don't know why I'm feeling so much anxiety right now". All I had to ask him was how many cups he had and he realized he'd overdone it. But because he has been ultra compliant with his multi-vitamins & fish oils over the past several weeks he was able to calm himself after the java wore off. He actually notices his anxiety increase both with coffee and when he skips his vitamins. This from someone who is not fond of taking pills but now realizes how they help naturally balance his mood and his hormones. He is a believer now and I love seeing him come to this realization & begin hatching himself out of the anxious shell of his egg! Less caffeine & getting his core nutrients makes him more of his best self - this is so empowering for him as he has struggled so hard in his life. Yay!
